Surgery

My littlest guy has had 4-5 ear infections per year since he was born. The pediatrician wanted to hold off on tubes, but Chantz was getting infections so often I stopped trying to get in with his doctor and started going to the clinic by our house. One of the NPs recognized him this last time and wrote me up a referral to see the ENT. Thank heavens! Off we went, and of course the ENT said that he would have had tubes placed in this kid's ears a year ago. :) Here is pre-ear tube Chantz, being sad and likely harboring a double ear infection as always:

The day of surgery was quite the experience. As you can see, Daddy had to cover Chantz in a handful of blankets to keep him warm since the boilers in the building were broken. It was a balmy 43 degrees inside. This is right after Chantz has taken the Versed but before it kicked in:

Here's Chantz about fifteen minutes later. He was so drunk and was being so silly! He laughed and laughed and talked a mile a minute. The whole staff kept coming over to watch him. :)

He was really feeling the meds in this picture:

So they got him his own hat:

Time to go! He was fine with it as long as the ball came too. The surgery went well and when he woke up he cried pretty hard for about an hour. It wasn't pleasant to experience because we couldn't comfort him-he was just waking up from the anesthesia. However, after that hour was over he was back to being a happy little guy!
Here he is, happy as can be, and playing with his "bestest" friend.

This kid makes me smile all the time. He is a happy, perfect little boy who I can't help but call my angel. We're so glad he was able to get tubes and that he is feeling better!
