Starting about the middle of August, this feeling of excitement starts to creep up on me. I find myself looking up MarthaStewart.com and browsing the fall recipes and crafts, I start checking Walmart for the seasonal display, and I buy a bag of candy corn. Things like the corn maize and the new movie opening on Thanksgiving Day seem to be topics I frequently mention to my family and friends. Poor Bryant has to listen to me talk about the holidays ALL the time. He's a good sport. :) I love Fall, I love Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Chistmas as well! This truly is my favorite time of year.
Things I love about the holiday season-in no particular order:
1. New recipes-especially dessert, and anything with pumpkin is my favorite!
2. Decorating my house
3. Seeing family
4. Listening to Christmas music--this starts in November
5. Going to a movie Thanksgiving night with the family-usually Harry Potter

5. Going to a movie Thanksgiving night with the family-usually Harry Potter
6. Decorating my Christmas tree
7. Making Christmas cards, which are about halfway done!
8. Christmas shopping
9. Trick-or-treating
10. Hot chocolate and apple cider
11. That general "feel good" atmosphere that can be found everywhere during these few months
12. The Festival of Trees
13: Christmas movies: Elf, Home Alone, A Christmas Story, Jingle All the Way, It's a Wonderful Life, How the Grinch Stole Christmas...just to name a few
14. Making Christmas presents for my friends (This doesn't always happen, but I'm hoping to start early and get them done this year!)
15. Reading about the Christmas Story in the scriptures
16. The MoTab annual Christmas concert
17. Picking out Tripp's Halloween costume
18. Making the Thanksgiving turkey-my Mother graciously handed that responsibility over to me a few years ago, and I haven't gotten out of it since
19. Seeing my cousins!!
20: The smells! I love candles and scentsy bars that smell like pumpkin, french vanilla, pine, etc!
21: Aunt Pat's annual Christmas Ladies' Brunch
Anyway, the list keeps going! One of the first things we did this holiday season was go to the pumpkin patch. Tripp absolutely loved it! He rode in the pumpkin wagon and watched and laughed as the pumpkins piled in around him.
We watched a pig race, and all the kids found that pretty amusing.
Besides the fact that it was freezing outside, it was a fun experience! The Jones family ended up with more pumpkins that the Hessing family-probably shouldn't have, but I can't pass up a good pumpkin!
Macey's friend Brooke was kind enough to take a quick family pic:

Yes!!! That's how I am! I love this time of year. We went apple picking and pressed our cider last weekend! Yay for the holidays!
I think we are going to miss out on the pumpkin patch this year. It looks like you guys had fun. We did get little pumpkins out of our garden to make up for not going. Those are some cute pictures.
I am just like you. I love this time of year for many reasons but for one thing I love picking out new recipes and trying them out on the family.
